Tales From the Blue

TRIP REPORT

2026 BAHAMAS SHARK ODYSSEY

From crystal-clear springs and ancient cypress forests to some of the world's most celebrated shark diving destinations, our 2026 Bahamas Shark Odyssey delivered an extraordinary journey through wild waters and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

FLORIDA WILDLIFE

Gentle Giants of Crystal River

Our adventure began in Florida, where abundant wildlife provided the perfect introduction to the journey ahead. Alligators were a regular sight, while the region's rich birdlife delivered countless highlights, including bald eagles and roseate spoonbills. Of course, the stars of this chapter were the gentle West Indian Manatees. Drifting quietly alongside these remarkable animals as they grazed on seagrass, rested in the clear springs, and surfaced for a breath was a truly unforgettable experience, offering a rare glimpse into the lives of one of Florida's most beloved wildlife icons.

TIGER BEACH

Kingdom of the Tiger Sharks

Aboard the Dolphin Dream, we crossed into Bahamian waters and made our way to the legendary Tiger Beach. Here, enormous tiger sharks glided effortlessly through gin-clear water, delivering breathtaking encounters with one of the ocean's most iconic apex predators. While these magnificent sharks were undoubtedly the stars of the show, the experience was enriched by encounters with Caribbean reef sharks, lemon sharks, nurse sharks, loggerhead turtles, vibrant coral reefs, and a fascinating wreck dive. These encounters highlighted why the Bahamas remains one of the finest places on Earth to experience large sharks in their natural environment.

BIMINI

Among the Great Hammerheads

Next came Bimini and one of the expedition's most anticipated experiences: diving with Great Hammerhead Sharks. Emerging from the blue with an unmistakable silhouette, these magnificent animals captivated guests with their size, grace, and quiet confidence.

CAT ISLAND

Into the Deep Blue

Our final chapter unfolded off remote Cat Island, where deep oceanic waters attract one of the most charismatic sharks on Earth—the Oceanic Whitetip. Curious, intelligent, and critically endangered, these pelagic wanderers provided a fitting finale to an expedition dedicated to celebrating and protecting the ocean's top predators.

From manatees and alligators to bottlenose dolphins, tiger sharks, hammerheads, and oceanic whitetips, the 2026 Bahamas Shark Odyssey delivered an extraordinary collection of wildlife encounters both above and below the surface. Among the many highlights was witnessing bottlenose dolphins engaging in the remarkable behaviour known as mud-ring feeding- a rare and highly coordinated hunting strategy that offered a fascinating glimpse into the intelligence and cooperation of these incredible animals.

Most importantly, a heartfelt thank you to the intrepid explorers who joined us on this adventure. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, sense of adventure, and camaraderie helped make this expedition truly special. From early mornings on the springs to unforgettable moments in the blue, it was a privilege to share these experiences with such a wonderful group of travellers.

We hope you enjoy reliving the journey through our videos, photographs, and stories - and we look forward to exploring another wild corner of the planet together soon.

EXPLORER EXPERIENCES

This was my nth trip with Thomas-we’ve done it all. But diving with 13 tiger sharks on one dive? Great hammerheads on another? Or hanging in the blue with 5–6 oceanic whitetips… that’s something else.
