2025 Indonesia -Video Postcard
An Odyssey of Adventure, Culture & Wild Encounters
Our journey through Indonesia was nothing short of extraordinary, a kaleidoscope of experiences both above and below the water. We began with incredible muck diving in the Lembeh Strait, encountering some of the ocean’s strangest and most spectacular critters. From there, we drifted to Siladen Resort in Bunaken Marine Park, where huge green sea turtles accompanied us on nearly every dive.
On land, we explored Tangkoko National Park, where we spent the day with troops of black macaques, spotted colorful kingfishers, and marveled at the tiny, wide-eyed Tarsius - the world’s smallest primate. In the Sidemen Valley of Bali, we wandered through lush rice terraces, visited Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, and learned the art of traditional Balinese cooking.
Our travels carried us to remote Bima, where we set sail towards Komodo National Park. Along the way, we dived deserted islands teeming with life before arriving at Komodo to hike with rangers in search of the legendary dragons. We climbed to Padar Island’s famous viewpoint at sunrise, leapt from the decks of our phinisi into turquoise waters, and spent evenings sharing music, laughter, and language lessons with our wonderful crew. We will never forget spending a full day diving and snorkeling with over 30 reef manta rays as they gracefully scooped mouths full of plankton just below the surface.
In a remote bay, fortune brought us face to face with one of the ocean’s true giants - a whale shark. Slipping into the water beside this gentle titan was an awe-inspiring reminder of just how wild and special Indonesia’s seas can be.
Our adventure ended in Alor, at a boutique resort set beside pristine reefs. Here, the magic continued - highlighted by a rare and unforgettable sighting of an Omura’s whale lunge-feeding in Kalabahi Bay.
It’s hard to capture the full magic of this journey in words alone - so we invite you to watch our Video Postcard from Indonesia and relive the highlights with us. This video postcard is also a tribute to our dear friend and guide, Robin Aiello. A passionate marine biologist, Robin shared her deep love for Indonesia’s reefs and creatures with all of us. On this expedition, we revisited some of her favorite locations, making each dive and discovery feel like a celebration of her spirit. Robin’s joy, knowledge, and kindness continue to inspire us, and on this particular voyage, her magic was truly all around us.
